MR ADRIAN WESTBRROK M.D.OF BROOK MILLER MOBILITY LTD IS PICTURED HANDING OVER SPONSORSHIP FOR SEASON 2008 TO DAVE WESTON, HEAD OF JUNIOR COACHING AT THE CLUB.
IT IS THE THIRD SEASON ADRIAN AND HIS COMPANY HAVE SPONSORED JUNIOR CRICKET AT THE CLUB.
ALSO PICTURED ARE NICK ODDY JUNIOR CRICKET DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, LOVE ABLISH THIS SEASONS OVERSEAS PROFFESSIONAL,FIRST ELEVEN CAPTAIN PAUL WINROW, AND ALL OUR JUNIOR COACHES AND MEMBERS OF ALL JUNIOR TEAMS INCLUDING OUR NEWLY FORMED GIRLS TEAM.
OUR JUNIOR SECTION IS THRIVING WITH SUPERB RESULTS BEING ATTAINED ON THE FIELD THIS SEASON.
WE HAVE TEAMS AT U9, U11,U13,U15, U17, AND A NEWLY FORMED GIRLS TEAM. WITH OVER 100 CHILDREN REGULARLY ATTENDING FRIDAY NIGHT JUNIOR COACHING SESSIONS
THIS SEASON CHAIRMAN MR STEVE CASARU COMMENTED, "WE ARE TRULY GRATEFUL FOR ADRIANS VERY GENEROUS SPONSORSHIP ONCE AGAIN, WHICH HAS GONE TOWARDS PAYING FOR COACHING. (THE CLUB NOW HAS OVER 10 QUALIFIED COACHES AT DIFFERING LEVELS), EQUIPMENT,AND GENERAL UPKEEP OF OUR JUNIOR SECTION. OUR JUNIORS ARE THE FUTURE OF THE CLUB, AND THE HIGH STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE ON THE FIELD AT ALL JUNIOR AGE GROUPS, HAS SHOWN THE TRUE BENEFIT OF ADRIANS SPONSORSHIP OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS."

Cricket coaching at North Bridge Leisure for 50p a session.
Starting (Thursday 6th Nov) at North Bridge Leisure Centre,
There is a chance for secondary school pupils (ages 11- 16 year old). to have some cricket coaching sessions, coached by a level 2 ECB coach, for only 50p!
There is a 10 week course which started Thursday 6th Nov at 4.00 - 5.30pm.
You can pay on the day or book at North Bridge for the 10 weeks for £5.
Please pass this infomation onto pupils or jounier players at your cricket club, this is a chance to have extra coaching through the winter time and carry in to the summer time.

JUNIORS WIN SILVERWARE
UNDER 9S WIN SILVERWARE
BARKISLAND CC WON ITS FIRST SILVERWARE OF THE SEASON WHEN OUR EXCELLENT U9S TEAM WON THE SOUTHOWRAM TOURNAMENT ON SUNDAY 27TH JULY. PLAYING TEAMS FROM SOUTHOWRAM, BLACKLEY, AND CLAYTON, OUR UNDER 9S TEAM WON ALL FOUR MATCHES IN AN EXCELLENT TOURNAMENT,
THE SQUAD ON THE DAY MADE UP OF CONNOR FRIEND, SAM STEAD, ASHLEY MUNCASTER, CHARLIE LISTER, CALLUM HOLROYD, JACOB OLDROYD, HARRY NICHOLSON, JOE BROOKE, AND TOM CRAVEN
LIFTED THE TROPHY AFTER A LONG DAYS CRICKET PLAYED IN SEARING HEAT. ALL THE PLAYERS CONTRIBUTED WITH BAT, BALL, AND SHOWED OUTSTANDING FIEDING QUALITIES WITH SOME SUPERB CATCHES SHOWING OFF THE TALENT THE CLUB HAS AT SUCH GRASSROOTS LEVEL. AFTER CONVINCING WINS IN THE THREE GROUP MATCHES THE TEAM LINED UP IN THE FINAL AGAINST A STRONG SOUTHOWRAM TEAM.LOSING THE TOSS AND BEING PUT INTO BAT BARKISLAND POSTED A VERY HEALTHY SCORE OF 82 RUNS FOR THE LOSS OF TWO WICKETS.
IN REPLY SOUTHOWRAM SCORED 65 FOR THE LOSS OF TWO WICKETS.
AFTER RECEIVING THE CUP, THE SQUAD, CHEERED ON BY A HEALTHY FOLLOWING FROM THE CLUB RETURNED TRIUMPHANT TO WATCH THE THIRD TEAM, AND PARADED THE TROPHY AROUND THE GROUND HAVING IT FILLED ON REGULAR OCCASIONS WITH LEMONADE AND SHANDY. PLEASE SEE PHOTOGRAPHS BELOW.....
WITH OVER TWENTY CHILDREN REGULARLY ATTENDING COACHING SESSIONS,OUR CLUB HAS A WEALTH OF VERY PROMISING CRICKETERS AT THE AGE LEVEL, WITH MANY WHO COULD NOT PLAY ON THE DAY, ACHEIVING THE SAME HIGH STANDARD WEEK IN WEEK OUT.
