Paul Winrow

(Cinders)

Skipper for the 2nd season after the hugely successful 2007 promotion campaign.  Led the team to energy and passion last year and led from the front with the bat. 

Paul is a right handed opening batsmen and medium pace seam bowler.  Has plenty of experience at Bradford and Huddersfield League level and played Yorkshire under 19's and Lancashire 2nd team in his younger days

Love Ablish

Love Ablish is the clubs new overseas player for the 2008 season.

He is a fast-medium opening bowler and middle order batsmen.  After making his Ranji Trophy debut in December 2004 he has represented Punjab in first class, one day and 20-20 games. 

In 2007 in signed for the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) and as a result he cannot play for his state side, Punjab.  The ICL season finishes at the end of March meaning Love will be available for the start of the 2008 Huddersfield League season.

Tinashe Panyangara

(Tin Man, Gnasher, Chalky)

Zimbabwe test and one day international player Tinashe Panyangara is 21 years old and is a fast-medium seam bolwer and middle order batsman.  He has played 3 test matches and 23 one day internationals for Zimbabwe.

During the 2007 season he led the attack with pace and control.  He took over 50 wickets and chipped in with valuable runs in the middle order.

Tinashe is now living in Huddersfield and keeping himself fit by playing rugby union for the Halifax Vandals.  He should be even more potent during the upcoming campaign.

Mathew Steers

(Shaggy, Lemonhead & Roy)

Off spin bowler and late order batsmen.  Current first team vice captain.

Mathew had another wonderful season with the ball during 2007.  He ended up with 40 wickets at 12.22 and was second in the conference bowling averages. 

Mathew previously played for Kirkburton and joined Barkisland 7 seasons ago.

Simon Wheelwright

(Wheelie, Keith Lard & Sheila)

Darren Robinson

(Dazzler & Robbo)

Darren joins the club after 4 seasons with Huddersfield League club Golcar.  He is a top oder batter and medium pace seam bowler.

Over the last few seasons in the Premiership Darren has scored between 600-700 runs and taken between 30-40 wickets.  With this all round ability he will have vital role to play in our return to the Premiership. 

Ben Wells

(Gilo, Wayne Bells & Taz)

Quick scoring middle order batsmen, excellent fielder and useful net bowler.  Ben returned to the club in 2007 after a season and a half at Southowram in the Halifax League.

Ben contributed well over 300 middle order runs in 2007 and was superb in the field.  He took many wonderful catches in the gully region.

Dave Weston

Andrew Fraine

(Sir Bob & Frainey)

Senior man in the first team squad.  Solid top order batsmen with vast experience playing in the Huddersfield and Bradford Leagues.  Former wicket keeper at county second team level.

Jacob Tarvis

(Bhuna & Trav)

New first team wicket keeper for the 2007 season. Jacob joined the club from Bradford League side Lightcliffe.

Jacob had a great season in 2007 with many important victims.  He was a solid prescence behind the stumps and was a vital member of the team.  Eager to get higher up the batting order!!! 

Ben Schofield

(Benjo)

Ben is a product of the junior set up at Barkisland. Has worked he was through the third and second team and is determined to step up into the firsts.

Ben was the stand out performer of the season.  He contributed vital runs when they were needed most, which helped the team win several games.  Ben was also wonderful in the field and never dropped a catch.  

Jamie Sykes

(Ball Bag)

Another product of the junior set up at Barkisland. Jamie is the regular opening bowler on the second team and has played several first team games over the last few seasons.

Jamie was a useful 1st team change bowler in 2007 and but for a extended holiday would have secured even more wickets.

Ben Jobson

Talent young batter who has again developed through the junior teams at Barkisland. Has been a free scoring player at second team level

Callum Thompson

(Berger)

Developing middle order batter who come through the junior ranks at Barkisland. Made his first team debut in 2006 after scoring plenty of runs in the second team

Josh Travis

(Rogan)

Nick Oddy

(Nods & Yoda)

Nick is the 2nd team skipper and former 1st team wicket keeper.  After stepping down at the end of last seaosn to skipper the 2nds he has started bowling medium pace to great effect.

Jamie Colman

(Klunk)

Jamie is a solid left handed top order batsmen.  Has plenty of experience of 1st and 2nd team level in both the Huddersfield and Halifax Leagues.  Barkisland is his only club 

Phil Eastwood

(The Power & Clint)

Phil is the inspirational leader of the Sunday 3rd team.  Right arm medium opening bowler and lower order batsmen.  Has only been a Barkisland player for a couple of seasons following a few years in the wilderness.  Started his cricket at Slaithwaite

Daniel Sykes

(Big D)

Talented second team allrounder who is the younger brother of Jamie. Another Barkisland junior who has been performing with bat and ball on a regular basis in the third and second teams

Simon joined the club in 2007 from Mytholmroyd of the Halifax League. He is a talented left handed opening bat and skippered his former club to Halifax League cup glory in 2005.

He adapted well to Huddersfield league cricket and scored nearly 600 runs with a top score of 94 against Kirkheaton.  He will be looking to score even more runs in the 2008 Premiership season.  

Simon works as a Community Fire Safety Officer and can be regularly seen wearing the 'Wellyphant' outfit!!!!!!
